Flying to Fargo
Fargo (FAR) has a delightfully small airport serviced by Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, and United. It's usually cheapest to fly here directly. Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) is of course far larger, but it's about a four-hour drive between here and the cities. Flying out of Fargo is usually pretty straightforward, security typically gets a little backed up in the early morning hours, but after about 7:30 it's quite clear.
Driving to (and around) Fargo
Getting here is pretty straightforward—We're at the intersection of I94 and I29. Once you're here, Fargo is built on a big grid—the only hiccup is that we have North Avenues and South Avenues, depending on which side of Main Ave. you're on.
Conference Schedule
The conference is Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24—that was inadvertently advertised incorrectly earlier this academic year. We're working on the details of the conference schedule, but the rough schedule looks like:
Saturday: Registration starts at 9, Sessions start at 10. Evening concert at 7 (The evening concert will include the submitted compositions, and the 10-minute performance programs)
Sunday: Sessions start at 10, final sessions end ~ 3:30.
Hotel
It's a busy weekend in Fargo, but we have a block of rooms at the Jasper Hotel (215 Broadway N) in downtown Fargo. The rates are $119 or $129 (+tax) depending on room type. That booking link is: https://booking.jasperfargo.com/ibe/details.aspx?propertyid=16705&nights=1&checkin=3/22/2024&group=5105203&lang=en-us. On-site parking is an extra $10 per night, but there are additional garages downtown that may be more economical. I'll put together a map.
There are some hotels closer to campus—Days Inn (1507 19th Ave N), Candlewood Suites (1831 NDSU Research Park Drive), and Homewood Suites (2021 16th St N). Downtown has more amenities within walking distance. None of the hotels are really within comfortable walking distance of the music building (1511 12 Ave N), but I think between Uber/Lyft and carpooling things will work out.
