- Call for Choral/Orchestral Scores -

Deadline: December 2, 2010

The College Music Society will hold its Fifty-Fourth National Conference October 20-23, 2011, in Richmond, Virginia, in conjunction with the 2011 National Conference of the Association for Technology in Music Instruction (ATMI).

The Program Committee welcomes submissions of original works for mixed chorus and orchestra. The 50-voice Old Dominion University Concert Choir and Old Dominion University Symphony Orchestra will perform selected works during the conference. As always, the Program Committee welcomes proposals from students, faculty, retirees, and independent musicians from all educational settings.


GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Proposers must be members of The College Music Society. Please note the processing time for membership applications and/or renewals is 1-2 business days. Persons interested in submitting a proposal are encouraged to check their membership status well in advance of the submission deadline.

  • A maximum submission of two proposals per person is allowed, each of which should be no more than 10 minutes in duration.

  • The composer’s name should not appear either in the program notes or on the score itself, as submissions are evaluated anonymously.

  • Electronic submissions are required. Please do not mail proposals. Complete instructions will be found within the online proposal system.

  • All composers whose work is selected for inclusion on the program are expected to register for and attend the conference.

  • The Society can make available no travel monies for accepted composers.

  • Complete proposals include the following:
    1. The score title, instrumentation, and duration.
    2. Program notes not exceeding 250 words.
    3. A brief biography of the composer (250 word maximum).
    4. A PDF copy of the full score.


  • MP3 sound files of the work are encouraged but are not required.

  • Submissions that do not conform to the above guidelines will not be considered.


SUBMISSION DEADLINE

Proposals must be submitted by 12:00 noon MST on Thursday, December 2, 2010.


TIMELINE

Proposers will be notified no later than Wednesday, April 20, 2011.
